Purpose

This tool focuses on three connected dimensions which are important for school leaders when considering students with disability and additional learning needs and where you need to focus teaching and learning in your school:

  1. Leadership
  2. Capacity
  3. Delivery

Each of these dimensions are further divided to give you a more accurate picture of areas that could be further enhanced. It is designed to be completed prior to using the LL4All resources and again post implementation to gain data on how effective the impact has been for your school.

In less than five minutes you will have a clear picture of where you and your school need to focus effort when looking for improved outcomes for students with disability and additional learning needs.

Vision Values Motivation
Having a clear vision for your organisation and a strategy to get there is crucial for all leaders. Initiatives should be aligned to this strategy, have unambiguous aims and be understood by all. Leaders need to be clear about what their organisations values are, how they want people to behave and always model these behaviours themselves. Leaders need to empower and support those involved in change in a way that liberates peoples' creativity.

Flexibility Effort Skills
Schools need to be able to continuously adapt to new situations in new and creative ways. How well they do this is a measure of their health. Engaged staff care about the future of their school and are willing to invest discretionary effort or 'do what it takes' to get things done. All schools have amongst their staff people who could be great champions of inclusion. They simply need the tools and techniques of change, the opportunity to use them and the support of senior management.

Process Planning Communications
Using a proven process dramatically increases the likelihood of delivering the operational and cultural change you are looking for. Schools will often either over plan and under deliver, or under plan and their goals just remain a wish. Clear and concise messages, delivered through the right channels at the right time play a key role in the success of any initiative.
